How To Make the Most of Curated LLMs.txt WordPress Plugin

The first step in setting up the Curated LLMs.txt WordPress Plugin is to choose the pages and posts that you want included in the llms.txt file. You can assign additional post_type(s) in the “Preferences” section of the Curated LLMs.txt plugin.

Choose one of the posts to edit. At the bottom of the editing interface you’ll see two different controls, one is a drop down which controls how and if the page will be included in the llms.txt file.

The other control is an editor which allows you to use Markdown. Markdown is similar to HTML except that it has a more simple syntax. It is often preferred when interacting with LLMs as it will eliminate ads, promotions and other content unrelated to the primary content. It also prevents your content from being hidden by JavaScript.

By default the plugin will convert the HTML in your post to Markdown. While this will get you started we recommend that you further curate the content in the Markdown field. Especially if the page or post is particularly long. LLMs prefer content that is presented concisely.

Alternatively you can instruct the LLM to parse the content as HTML. This is preferred if your content is well marked as structured content, using Schema.org. This can be a difficult call because many SEO plugins will automatically use the structured content as an Article or WebPage. You want to make sure that the structured content pertains to the actual content such as a Product or FAQPage.

You can read and confirm the structured content of a page with the Schema.org validator.

Use categories and Woocommerce product categories to seperate your primary links into sections.

Page and post excerpts increase the context of your LLMs.txt links as descriptions.
